Gádor István

- Born in 1891.
- Attended courses at industrial art school between 1906- 1911.
- Between 1911-1916 He worked at His Mentor Maróti Géza's Artworkshop. He carved stone scupltures.
- In 1914 He had first exhibitions with His ceramics. He participated on European exhibitions.
- He had ceramic course in Orban's School from 1928 onwards.
- He became professor and Head of Ceramics Department at College of Applied Arts in 1948
- Gador and Cserto met in 1971 at Siklos Castle Ceramics Symposium

As Cserto confesses: "Up to now I treasure His memory with highest respect. I met a man we could chat about everything even we had half century age distance I never felt this difference in mind.

We have been worked together 13 hardworking years. Up to now He is my scale in honesty and standard in professional demands, human relations and truthfulness. It has been never changed."

That time I had deep industrial view and human network (like Dunaferr Dunai Vasmű steelworks, glass and porcelain industrial fields) We had discussions huge volume and dimensions, durable, high-temperature burned public statues and installations, Fountaines and building decoration elements and roofing tiles.

The first project realized on this idea is a fountain placed in Siklós and which was burned out at 1200 °C. It was based on standard brick and it had special glazed surfaces. It stands still there!

Industrial insulation porcelain has better durability than granite. And it may be aesthetic. Question arised, how to produce this quality porcelain? After Chinese and Belgian trials creating white glazed porcelain Zsolnay factory started R&D project to create technology for thick wall industrial porcelain manufacturing.

Thanks for Mr. Grosch Béla engineering manager for persistent support. This project was unique and unrepeatable in Europe because Gador Istvan's spirit will be missing ever from that. Made from porcelain:
